The Software Engineering Manager will manage a team of digital design and software engineers to develop embedded control systems and test software for RF products.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Determine, develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Manage internal improvement and support projects
  • Participate in cross-functional continuous improvement projects
  • Review and approve contractual documentation for new customer orders
  • Hire, train, develop and supervise engineering staff
  • Coordinate resources between programs and proposals, working with program management and product line management to determine priorities
  • Perform resource capacity planning
  • Review and authorize weekly project time registration
  • Perform quarterly and annual performance evaluations, including raise proposals
  • Work with IT and Quality departments to ensure compliance to applicable standards
  • Recommend budget for staffing and expenses
  • Identify capital budget purchase requests, facilitate justification, prioritization, and execution of approved purchases
  • Manage software license tool renewals, monitor usage, and perform tool obsolescence management
  • Develop End User License Agreements for deliverable software items

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable engineering tasks
  • Experience developing employees who are in leadership and technical roles
  • Experience with agile, scrum and lean product development techniques
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of disciplines in a dynamic environment
  • Capable and comfortable implementing and using software tools to improve development efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with ability to communicate within all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable using Enterprise Resource Planning software (IFS, Macola, SAP, etc.)
  • Specific knowledge in VB.net, VHDL and embedded control circuit design

Education and/or Experience:

  • As this position has access to classified information, the candidate must be a US citizen
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • 2 or more years of experience in a management and leadership role required

·        Ideal candidates will have experience with:

·        Development of control systems, specifically embeddedcontrol using FPGA/CPLD

·        Revision control systems for code development

·        RF product development and manufacturing

·        Database design

·        Agile and Test-Driven Development

WORK SCHEDULES:

  • Normal work hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday with an alternate option of a 9/80 schedule if preferred
  • Lunch period is one hour per day, unpaid
  • Occasional domestic/international travel may be required
