The Product Engineer is primarily responsible for the resolution ofengineering issues in the Production Department as they arise, whether throughthe production process, parts, quality assurance, or other sources.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze Production Problem Reports (PPR) and coordinate with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Production Test Technicians, and/or Assemblers to gain understanding and make improvements to mitigate production or quality problems
  • Generate Engineering Change Orders (CO) as required
  • Coordinate the resolution of technically complex issues with the cognizant design or test software engineer
  • Proactively seek out production and quality inefficiencies as related to the product design, and devise methods to improve upon the identified inefficiencies
  • Review all new product designs with respect to how they will be manufactured in Production
  • Support and assist with the transition of new products to Production and Repair as required
  • Serve formally and informally on Continuous Improvement teams, including but not limited to Lean, Kaizen, and Process Improvement groups

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated experience working hands-on in a manufacturing environment bringing newly developed products to a sustained level of production, as well as supporting products that are currently in production
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, remain organized and complete objectives on time
  • Have a solid understanding of basic manufacturing principles along with a general knowledge of electrical engineering principles
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and deliver meaningful results
  • Possess practical, hands-on skills and an ability to work collaboratively with Production personnel
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills
  • Must be able to effectively and efficiently communicate with other departments, including manufacturing, engineering and management

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or permanent resident – green card holder)
  • BSIE or BSEET from an accredited college or university and 3+ years of relevant experience or MSIE from an accredited college or university and 1+ year of relevant experience
  • Experience with RF based systems a plus
  • Experience with military standards and specifications a plus

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, and low voltage electrical circuits while on the manufacturing floor, moderate noise level in the office
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment when in restricted manufacturing areas

WORK SCHEDULES:

  • Normal workdays are bi-weekly Monday through Friday, 8 hour days OR 9 - 9 hour days, 80 hour alternate schedule with every other Friday off
  • Lunch period is one hour per day, unpaid
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required
