The primary function of the Hardware Engineering Manager is the management of the hardware group which includes: the RF staff, systems, and mechanical engineers, and the RF designers.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        This position is responsible for being the process owner of the following:

a.      Process creation/deletion

b.     Coordinates process training/updates

c.      Process improvements (includingincorporation of program lessons learned)

·        Position schedules and conducts periodic group meetings

·        Position coordinates resources between programs and proposals, working with program management and the Product Line Manager to determine priorities

·        Position is responsible for the review and authorization of time registration and time clock entries

·        Position coordinates PTO, including notification to other managers or pertinent personnel

·        Position is responsible for the performance review process of direct reports which includes:

a.      Gathering information/interviews

b.      Entering information into online review system

c.       Conducting review with employee

d.      Proposing compensation adjustments

·        Position is responsible for resource capacity planning

·        Position manages internal improvement and support projects

·        Position is responsible for the following personnel management tasks:

a.       Ensuring employee growth and development paths

b.      Mediation of discussions as required

c.       Ensuring employee recognition & discipline (including documenting and resolving policy violations and follow-up activity)

d.      Ensuring processes are being followed and output is of high quality

e.      Reviewing resumes and conducting interviews for open positions in group by assisting HR during the search efforts

f.       Providing critical hiring and/or disciplinary input

g.       Ensuring continuity for existing programs

·        Position has overall budgetary responsibility:

a.       Identifying capital budget requests, facilitating justification, prioritizing and creating purchase requisitions

b.      Managing group specific software licenses, including upgrades and proposals for new tools

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Capable of clearly defining appropriate technical approaches and solutions to the most mission critical challenges
  • Able to define and communicate critical project criteria to ensure project completion
  • Experience developing employees who are in leadership and technical roles
  • Technical skills in lean product development techniques, Kaizen, process improvement
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of disciplines in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Capable and comfortable implementing and using software tools to improve development efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with ability to communicate within all levels of the organization
  • Familiar with use of ERP systems (IFS, Peoplesoft, Macoloa, SAP, etc.)

Education and/or Experience:

  • As this position has access to classified information, the candidate must be a US citizen
  • BSEE/ME or MSEE/ME with at least 2 years of experience in a management and leadership role required

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, and low voltage electrical circuits while on the manufacturing floor
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment when in restricted manufacturing areas

WORK SCHEDULES:

  • Normal work hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday with an alternate option of a 9/80 schedule if preferred
  • Lunch period is one hour per day, unpaid
  • Occasional domestic/international travel may be required
